Upon stepping into the office, we were greeted by an intimidating sight:

Soon after, the 2 of us were given a half-inch thick booklet of company's policy to read. In chinese. Not that we din expect it to be in chinese. Just that after a filling breakfast, no coffee, a late previous night and at such an unfriendly time in the morning, our eyelids (ok or maybe it's only mine) started droopin soon enough. It din help that my team leader passed me 2 similarly thick booklets of contractual documents to read through. FIDIC in Chinese!! In my head I was automatically translating the terms into English, in a bid to link to what I've learnt previously.

For example:

• 合同 = contract
• 工程清单 = BQ
• 承包范围 = scope of works
• 合同工期及延期赔偿 = EOT and Liquidated Damages
• 不可抗力和自然灾害 = force majeure

You guys get my point right. So there I was, nodding off every other minute, all the way til lunch time, then after lunch.

Later on when my team leader gave me a little something else to do:

Serious at work, but scrutinize a little and u'll see a little orange light somewhere on the computar screen.

After a couple more hours... We're finally off work!

The photo-happy duo strikes again!

After pigging out on good food for the weekend, we decided to dine at a cheaper local restaurant during the weekdays. So we walked. And walked. And walked. And ended up at a stretch of English-looking restaurants, which we realised Yan Mei never brought us to/told us about cuz the prices are sky high. -_-" Finally, hungry and tired, we backtracked to this small restaurant that we passed by previously.

The menu was mostly made up of 4-worded names of dishes in CHINESE. Without pictures. So... the 2 hungry souls furrowed their eyebrows in an attempt to pick some good food to soothe their rumbling tummies. We ended up with 宫保鸡丁，皮蛋配豆腐，扬州炒饭 and 牛肉面:

Just for the heck of it, we took 'before' and 'after' pics of our staple dishes for comparison. Answers provided at the end of the blog but no prizes for correct guess, although YJ's 扬州炒饭 might prove to be quite challenging:

The bill came up to 40rmb and both of us were satiated to the point of bursting. It wasnt fab, but it was filling and cheap. We even dabao the remaining fried rice (although it was more of a matter of conscience for wasting food =x). The remainder of the night was spent online, happily chatting with frens. =)
