Happy Chinese New Year to one and all. May the Goddess of Mercy watch over you and your family; May the God of Wealth smile upon you; May all things be smooth sailing for you in the new lunar year of the Rat. Most importantly, may all be happy and in good health.
Mum says that they are fairy carps and are supposed to bring in wealth.
Reunion dinner was a spread of GOOD food:
...which mum was trying to get Adel to come and help finish cuz the poor girl had chosen to stay home and do her work while her family went to a relative's place for dinner.
Think the highlight of the spread was this:
Think it's called 盆菜; it's made up of good stuff like mushrooms, scallops, prawns, tau kee, sea cucumber, chicken, golden mushroom, etc etc etc.
Shadow the dog wanted very much to join in the dinner too (he was making his plea while we were lou-ing hei (or tossing raw fish salad) and making our wishes for the new year), but as usual, his pleas were ignored. The poor thing also can't be let loose to run around the garden today and over the next few days too, cuz we can't use the broom to sweep his hair up during CNY.
Played with him a little before dinner and tried to get him to take a picture with me. He's kinda camera shy though.
The whole family trooped down to J8 to catch Ah Long Pte Ltd at night, after the sumptious dinner. We were sorely disappointed by the lousy movie though. It was lamer than lame, and although Mark Lee was pretty amusing in his role as a sissy dance instructor, the scriptwriter(s) didn't seem to know the rule of thumb that one doesn't succeed with the same joke(s) twice. Hope tomorrow's CJ7 would be much better. Want to watch Sweeney Todd too. Probably after next Friday. hmm. Any takers?
Drove Dad to the temple to pray for blessings as we ushered in the year of the Rat. It was a first for me, just Dad and I, at a temple. The place was more crowded than crowded. There was crowd control officers and traffic police on duty though, which made the temple visit a lot smoother than I suppose it would have been without. The two of us stank up the whole car after that, but I'm glad to have shared this experience with Dad, even though it was just a visit to the temple.
-yawnz- Gotta get back to Excel now.
Happy New Year to everyone.
May the Ang Pow collection prosper and the God of Wealth favor the gambling addicts.
