[19052007, Sat] Day 9 in 北京 - KTV

We had a hard time draggin ourselves out of bed this mornin -yawnz- , especially cuz we've gotta go back to the office. Richard was up early and had already had an all-American breakfast waitin for us when we finally got up (after snoozin both our alarms for 30mins, no less). Home-cooked scrambled eggs, bacon, toast (with kaya from Singapore) and a mug of lipton tea.

Richard: Although ur breakfast got me cravin for kaya toast for ages, thanks for cookin for us and for havin us over.

After breakfast, it was back to the office for a spot of work:

Notice the unwillingness stamped all over our faces?

Although breakfast was only a couple of hours ago, the 2 gluttons soon found themselves hungry and decided to checkout the L4 foodcourt that was to be accessed through the 5th floor. The 2 'explorers' found themselves in a bare and bleak area awaiting construction:

brr.. it's kinda cold in here.

alamak. kena cheated by the barricaded door.

When the 2 'explorers' finally found their way to the foodcourt, one got a bowl of chilli-oil-floatin-on-top noodle soup while the other headed for the multi-coloured chap chye peng stall and got this:

Prisoners' Food Tray?

Finally after we've completed our stuff at work, we headed down to 百脑汇 to meet Richard and gang before headin for the eagarly anticipated KTV session just across the road at Melody.

Ain't the chinese literal in their translation? 百脑汇 literally stands for "BuyNow".

I felt like a mountain tortoise when entering the KTV building (yes.. get this - the whole building is for KTV!). I was told there were 6 levels of rooms, thus to prevent ppl from gettin lost, 'guards' accompanied us up the lift and into the room that was allocated to us. As much as I wanted to take a general shot of the place, the 'guards' imposing nature had me leave my strainin-to-get-out-and-snap-away camera in its pouch.

Once in the room however, I got trigger happy. And my camera subjects rose to the occasion brilliantly:

The first front-facing (and tummyless) pic of Richard, actin cute with YJ.

The sleek touchscreen menu.

The shakers-holdin hip-hop wannabe.

Newbie, amazed with the control panel on the wall.

Close-up of the control panel on the wall.

Mic cover for hygiene purposes (This got me thinkin abt my bro droolin all over the [home] mic when he was still young and cute. I say... Singapore shld really adopt this system.)

Free demonstration on how to put on a mic cover.

Our package involved ordering 239rmb worth of food (with free flow of drinks) for singing til 9pm. The menu consisted of a sizable variety of food (the sizable here is in comparison to the pathetic menu at some KTV-meal-deals back in S'pore),

which the pro waitress noted down on the touchscreen menu, UPSIDEDOWN.

Then, the singing began. Although I'd never imagine actually going to sing KTV with anyone from the (to quote Richard) 70s generation, I had a great time. I mean, these guys are hip and spontaneous, shakin the shakers and hittin the tambourine along to the beat of the song and even standin up and shakin along with the song! Unfortunately the videos taken are for personal viewing pleasure and cnt be uploaded here or u guys will really get wat i mean. =x

What I do have is this shot:

YJ singing an oldies, the oldies style.

Oh well.

And of course, a blogpost isnt complete without a picture of the food somewhere on it:

Great company. Great system. Good food. Good drinks. Good singing (tune subjective).

Unfortunately 2 ppl had to leave first, so it was left with YJ, Richard and myself who extended for an additonal 1.5hrs after 9pm. Rem how much the package deal, that we took from 6-9pm, cost? This extension of half the time we sang cost a bloody 265rmb and the cost was split among the 3 of us. -_-" Damn ex sia. But it was worth it. Enjoyed myself beltin out those songs (although i'm not sure abt the enjoyment/torture level that my audience were enduring) and screamin myself hoarse during (of all things) the last song.

Home but still high from the singing, YJ and I decided to watch a movie before we headed to bed. Music and Lyrics it was. Sweet movie. Knocked out after that, havin made sure to set a couple of alarms to wake us up for tmr's trip to 香山。

End of Day 9.

josh, signing off.

I thought of u when watching Music and Lyrics. Thought of how initially I wanted to watch the movie with u but somehow it din happen? Thought of the lyrics of the song. hmm. Do u want to watch it at my place when I'm back?
