[17052007, Thu] Day 7 in 北京

Seriously knocked out last night. Dunno if it's cuz of the bacardi, the constant late nights takin a toll on me or cuz I had the entire bed to myself last night (Now.. before u ppl think I'm bullyin YJ, know that she wanted to sleep on the sofa after I told her that it's pretty comfy). YJ said my alarm sang it's full tune - The Sweetest Escape - a total of 3 times, yet I dun recall hearin any! jia lat.. And so, we were a little late for work =x

Hmm. I received a surprise sms when I woke up. Funny how this particular person seem to have the knack to kind of brighten my day a little with unexpected messages, although only twice. Haha. I din expect a reply cuz it was a 'droppin by to say hi' kind of msg and I am in China, usin a China sim card. But I appreciate the reply cuz not many ppl bother to reply an sms these days, even if the sms is of the kind that requires/specifically askes for a reply. Isnt that akin to blatently ignoring the one who sent the sms? Sometimes I really wonder...

[At work] Rem I mentioned that my team leader said that she'll give me some work to do on Thu? Yeap, when YJ went out for another meeting with her team leader, I went to approach her with my “请问您有东西给我做吗？” today, she gave me some work to do. What did she give me? Measurement, as promised. ahh... She also kindly assigned the work (measuring area of flat roof) to me and a local colleague (who I guess was to act as my mentor). My kind colleague spent much of her energy and saliva (and risked burstin her blood pressure level) patiently explainin to me the various terms in chinese (the specifications were in chinese). The drawings were huge... So my table looked like this:

Green specs on the screen, Blue drawings on the table and the thick book u see there on the drawings? An English-Chinese dictionary. Which wsnt of much help -_-"

This is me, before lunch:

My helpful colleague (in pink), VERY patiently explainin to me how to go about doin the measurement in chinese, while I was tryin to put some useful info on my make-shift dimension paper.

YJ came back just in time to go out for lunch. Yea, I was sweatin and about to puke blood all over the drawings anyway. Went for lunch with our new colleagues (who just joined us yest). 2 of them are full time Technical Assistants (TA) while the other is a part timer, doin admin work during her sch hols. This girl's like those Taiwanese girls... Super hyper, chatty and kawaii. Which totally suits my photo-taking hobby:

The wind was super strong and here in 北京, walking out on the streets is like being in the midst of a 'sandstorm':

Recall the song, "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"? Now, just replace the 'smoke' with 'sand' and u'll get the picture.

The rest of the day was spent pukin blood over the measurement, which still beats havin nothin to do. I managed to convince YJ that we shld treat ourselves to a nice dinner though, so it's back to the 饺子店 for dinner. While waitin for our food to arrive...

Delight that the grooves on the tea cup make for easier handling when filled with hot tea.

FYI, YJ ain't striking a pose for the cam; she was just plain stonin.

Then our food came! Took a shot of the first 锅贴 we tried in 北京:

As usual, we ate til we were freakin full, then it's shower, internet, then bedtime. Think I nodded off on the sofa for a while, to YJ's delight cuz it means that no one's buggin her to hurry up with usin the internet. -_-"
