Concert and Board-Gaming

On a happier note, I went for my first Jay Chou concert on Friday! 周杰倫2008世界巡迴演唱會 - there's only one word to describe it - 帅!Unfortunately, most of the photos and videos that I took are kind of blur on anything other than my camera's LCD. oh well.

That's me before the concert started:

The green thing was given to us to wave about frantically during the concert. We opted to wave our lightsticks though.

One not-so-bad shot of 周杰倫:

The concert was so high that we were standing, waving, hooting, swaying, jumping around, not necessarily in that order. Poor AwAw even lost her voice, hence ended up unintentionally giving us the 'silent treatment' when we met for shopping the next day:

After the disasterous dinner, we headed to MINDS Cafe for some gaming fun. Think we were a little cranky from the hazardous food we had:

Decided to try our hands at playing RISK - the game of world domination:

Run claims that I was damn lucky that night. I agree. Damn, should have played mahjong.

The two 23 year olds decided to find back a little of their lost childhood:

...until we heard the announcement that the LAST train was about to arrive, which got us making a mad dash to the platform. God knows how expensive cab fares are these days.

In the train, to 配合 dear AwAw who was virtually 'voiceless' already, we decided to only rely on actions to convey our thoughts. Trust Run to come out with the idea that the first person to make a sound would treat the other two to breakfast the next morning. Well. I laughed so hard, my tummy ached and tears came to my eyes. I think we'd be pretty pro at charades the next time we play, especially the Singlish edition. Who'd think we'd do such things on a public train at 22/23?

Horrible Horrible Food

Had an outing with my buddies just yesterday and we had the fortune of going to this shop at Paradise Centre for dinner:

How was it? Let's put it this way - Run has made it her personal mission to ensure that business for the shop won't last more than six months. Of course, that's just a figure of speech, but with food like that, I won't be surprised if they fold on their own.

Right outside the shop, there was a board which advertised FREE PLAIN ICE TEA for STUDENTS upon producing verification:

Thirsty as we were and being poor students, we didn't think much of the obvious attempt to highlight "PLAIN" and went ahead to order a drink each with our meal, only to be told that the drink does not come with sugar.

This was what we got:

A PLAIN glass of iced tea indeed.

Ok so much for the free drink. Next up, the food:

Dish number 1 was some grilled chicken with fried tauhu, 2 slices of cucumber and a few strands of vege:

Dish 2, smashed fried chicken with the same side 'dish':

Dish 3, grilled pomfret with the same side 'dish':

None of the above three looked close to what we saw in the menu. First, the serving size was disgustingly inadequate - the rice looked like the bowl they used to scoop it was missing the top half; basically there was only a 3rd of a normal serving of rice. Second, my minute piece of chicken was so tough that I had trouble spearing it with my fork; the fork just slide across the surface. Third, the fried tauhu was sour.

My grilled chicken was so black and tough that I have no idea which part of the chicken I was biting into and whether it was meat or bone. For example:

My buddy and I made 2 trips each to the toilet at night and this morning. To give it the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was something else we ate. hmm...

Bottomline: the food was meagre and disgusting. On the upside? Maybe the cook was just having a bad day. hmm.

Shall leave you guys to decide whether or not to try.
