Kids and sticky couples should really not be allowed into buffet places
Before I start this post, I'd like to wish a very happy Fathers' Day to all daddys out there. Hope your kids made this special day even more memorable for you. In a good way of course.
Hmm. Fathers' Day dinner was a buffet in the Orchard area a couple of hours back. Mum managed to book a place at the very last minute, seeing that the 1st choice was fully booked, and the alternative choice would be to dine at the nearby restaurant yet another time.
We reached the place relatively on time and proceeded to join the crowd at the buffet spread area, which leads me to my first irritant - unruly customers who have no courtesy to queue/wait in line to get their food at the buffet line. There was no concept of which direction one should follow to get his food, and basically, since people weren't going in any particular direction, it didn't make sense to be courteous and wait for the person ahead of you to move on.
Irritant no. 2 - sticky couples. Not once, but twice, I found my way (to the food) blocked by a couple, of which one (the guy) was holding the plate and the food tongs, while the other (the girl, of course, seeing that the former was a guy) basically either leaned against or hugged the former, while whispering what she "thinks she wants to eat".
Rolls eyes.Just shove the guy aside, grab a plate and get your own food! What? You mean you don't have hands?
Irritant no. 3 - kids. Or to be more specific, unmanned kids. First, they run around bearing food on their plates. Not that I have a problem with that, unless you factor in the height (i.e. waist level) and the crowded place. Second, one dr-jekyll-mr-hyde girl was, at one moment, stubbornly leaning next to this freezer desserts section, right next to a table bearing a pot of hot yam paste (causing adults a tough time scooping their yam paste for fear of dripping some on the girl), and the next moment, screaming gibberish stuff to her very patient daddy in the middle of the entire restaurant. And I thought she looked innocent.
Buffets really aren't meant for the above mentioned kids and sticky couples who can't get enough of each other. Kinda ruins the dining experience.
But well. At least Dad ate his fill or salmon sashimi, even though the Bro had rice as usual (and basically wasted his share of the buffet price; we should really just order ala carte for him).
Alright. That's all for the Fathers' Day post. Starting work tomorrow, so got to get up ultra early.
Look out for the grad trip post, which will appear below this post soon (I hope).
josh, signin off.
